Electromag SA, based in Ecublens, Switzerland, announced today that its Board of Directors has resolved to sell 100% of the company’s shares to Mabuchi Motor Co., Ltd. based in Chiba, Japan. Mabuchi Motor Co., Ltd. is the world’s largest manufacturer by volume of small electric motors, producing over 1.2 billion motors annually. It is listed in the Tokyo Stock Exchange (TSE:6592 “Mabuchi Motor”) and employs approximately 21,000 employees worldwide. Mabuchi Motor has a strong presence in the automotive products and consumer & industrial markets. Mabuchi Motor ’s highly refined technology for small DC motors provides safe, environment-friendly, and reasonable-priced motive power that enhances safety and comfort in the lives of people everywhere. The acquisition of Electromag will allow Mabuchi to expand its sales to the medical market and increase its expertise in brushless motors. This transaction will benefit to Electromag, which will be backed by a powerful partner and be able to consider new opportunities in high-volume applications. Electromag will also leverage on Mabuchi’s expertise in mass production and strong worldwide sales force.
